Wow, what a weekend! Last Thursday Tim and I took Monster City to Wizard World Chicago and sold almost a hundred copies of issue one! A lot of people were hooked by the premise because they were fans of either noir/crime fiction or monsters/horror and loved the combination. Quite a bit of female interest was sparked by the inclusion of the Phantom of the Opera in the first issue. And some were just big supporters of indie, self-published stuff and local artists. Whatever the draw was, we're just happy to have so many fans and hope they enjoy the series as it continues! And we're planning to go to many more conventions, with the ultimate dream of San Diego Comicon glistening on the horizon. Monster City is off to a great start so far. And I've started penciling issue two, which we're hoping to print in October. Thanks to all for the support so far, and if you know anyone who's interested in comics, classic horror, film noir, the supernatural, detective fiction, or supporting self-publishing, send them to Our second printing is underway! And like us on facebook :)

Here's some drawings I did of classic monsters late at night during the convention. Enjoy!
